About our venue

Activate by Hardrock is an indoor climbing and activity centre, located in Heatherton. Our activities include a selection of over 30 fun and engaging climbs, the Leap of Faith and Vertical drop Slide and 85+ meters of ultra-realistic caving tunnels.

About the Role

As a Cafe Supervisor, your responsibilities will include coordinating our Cafe operations including managing stock, researching new product offerings, providing mentoring and development to the cafe staff team, serving customers, preparing food and beverages, maintaining excellent food safety standards at all times, overseeing birthday party logistics and assisting the cafe team to deliver all our offerings. You will assist to coordinate reception centre operations from your rostered area and will support other areas of the business when required.

Our Cafe Supervisors are experienced in cafe operations and lead the Cafe team by example.

Duties/Responsibilities

As a member of the Cafe team, you will be required to:
– Provide exceptional customer service at all times
– Demonstrate excellent food safety standards at all times
– Take and prepare customer food and drink orders
– Perform administration duties including: taking/confirming bookings, customer registration, point of sale and stock control
– General housekeeping and cleaning including turning over party rooms between customers
– Be a COVIDSafe Marshal and ensure our COVIDSafe plan is carried out effectively
– Assist other departments during peak periods

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and mature minded people, who have a passion for working with both children and adults. In addition, we are seeking candidates with the ability to engage with a range of customers, maintain patience and provide support and encouragement as required.

You are also friendly, have outstanding communication skills and enjoy working in a small team environment.

As a key member of our team, you will display a high degree of initiative, attention to detail, ability to problem solve and work autonomously; ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard. It is also vital that all team members have a safety-first mindset with a sound awareness of safety standards.

Candidates must:
– Be aged 20+ and be available for an immediate start
– Be available to work a variety of shifts including weekdays, weekends, daytime, evenings, school holidays and peak periods
– Have the right to work in Australia permanently, with no restrictions
– Hold or be prepared to obtain and maintain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and Level 2 First Aid including annual CPR refreshers
– Hold or be willing to work towards a Food Safety Supervisor Course
– Previous Barista, Kitchen Hand and Party Hosting experience is essential
– Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, in line with current Victorian Government Directions
